Stockwell Urban II Community Initiative is a £12 million regeneration scheme focussing on Larkhall and Stockwell wards, plus the estates covered by North and West Stockwell housing neighbourhoods. £6 million comes from the European Union's European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the remaining £6 million has to be secured through match funding. Stockwell is the only area in London to be awarded Urban II ERDF funds.
The Stockwell Urban II programme has re-opened its bidding round and is inviting the submission of Expressions of Interest. The bulk of remaining funds are available under the Priority 3 category which supports projects focussing on local and enterprise and employability. The Urban II Board are particularly keen to support projects that intend to assist the sustainability of current Urban II projects after the programme concludes in March 2008.
Minimal funds remain unallocated in Priorities 1 and 2 which focus on community capacity building, community hubs, inclusivity and a sustainable and greener environment. However, this situation might change if some current projects approved an Expression of Interest stage do not receive full approval. For now the focus is on Priority 3 projects.
