How do we make a difference?

“…this project is an example of Localism at its most successful enabling [Stockwell Partnership] to identify and reach out to people who would be traditionally very hard to engage.”
Portuguese Advice & Capacity Building Project Evaluation, Ian Beever Consultancy & Training

Stockwell Partnership is a charity run by local people for local people. We improve the quality of life in the local area by developing projects, building partnerships, and supporting residents to take action on the issues they care about. We work with residents to create a neighbourhood where people feel happy and safe, and where they have a sense of pride and ownership.

Highlights from our 2025-26 work programme

Thriving Stockwell

The Thriving Stockwell programme continues to improve health and wellbeing by strengthening connections between residents and local services, and by supporting people to take ownership of their health. Now in its seventh year, the programme is delivered with the Stockwell Primary Care Network, Art4Space, DASL, Skills Spot, Stockwell Park Community Trust, Morley College, Hyde, Lambeth Together and a wider network of more than 40 local organisations.

In 2025–26, supported by Lambeth’s Changing Lives Fund and other partners, we delivered eight peer‑support groups through our Community Living Rooms, hosted themed events for Eid, Christmas, Diwali, Black History Month and LGBT Month, and promoted local activities across social media. A total of 339 residents took part in weekly Community Living Room sessions and community events.

We also partnered with South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust and King’s Health Partners to deliver the community‑connector element of the Pain: Equality of Care and Support in the Community (PEACS) project, supporting a peer group of Black residents living with chronic pain. The project was highly commended at the HSJ Awards.

Peer‑support groups reported significant improvements in wellbeing. Thriving Stockwell is increasingly recognised as a flagship neighbourhood model for tackling health inequalities. In January 2026, we secured three years of funding from the Integrated Care Board for a new Vital 5 Community Champions programme. Thriving Stockwell has also been named the community anchor for the forthcoming Lambeth Active Places programme, working with London Sport and other neighbourhood anchors.

Support to Portuguese and Spanish Speakers

Demand for our Stockwell Portuguese Community project, funded by the National Lottery Community Fund, continued to rise due to the cost‑of‑living crisis. We supported 514 beneficiaries, including 91 Disabled people, and helped 25 people into work.

Through funding from the Walcot Foundation, we strengthened the financial resilience, parenting skills and service access of Portuguese‑ and Spanish‑speaking families. We supported 403 parents and carers, including 142 Disabled parents, and delivered workshops on welfare benefits and resilience.

Commissioned by Lambeth Council’s Early Years service, we continued to deliver the Start for Life programme in Children’s Centres and community settings, supporting families with 0–1‑year‑olds on positive parenting, financial resilience, service access and employability. 347 parents benefited from the programme this year.

Support with Employability

In August, Lambeth Employment and Skills commissioned us to deliver targeted employment support for disadvantaged parents. To date, we have supported 21 migrant parents to build employability skills and move closer to work.

Lambeth Networks

Through the Lambeth Forum Network, we delivered the Stockwell Forum and supported related Thriving Stockwell activity. We continued to work with Lambeth Council and the Lambeth Community Hubs network to strengthen our role within the borough’s Community Hubs programme, securing the Capacity Building element of the VCS support contract. As part of this work, the hubs reviewed and expanded a suite of policy templates for the sector and provided mentoring to local community organisations.

We also collaborated with High Trees CDT, IRMO and others to develop the new Lambeth Community Research Network, and we serve on the Local Ecology Group for Health and Wellbeing, convened by the Neighbourhood Wellbeing Delivery Alliance.
